Reviews: scores and what critics actually say

Earlier research on 7 November 2026 recorded Metacritic at 77 out of 100 from six critics (one aggregate source); the review fetch was later blocked with HTTP 403. The accessible Steam store now showed 160 reviews at 81 percent positive, labeled Very Positive (one source). Critics like the feel of cleaning. The repeated complaints are repetition, small physics misses, shelf stats that do not explain themselves, and the lack of cloud saves and achievements.

Earlier Metacritic snapshot: six scores

The 77 is Metacritic’s aggregate. I am not blending it with Steam’s 81 percent into a homemade “79.” The earlier research recorded the six outlets below from that single aggregate page; these are attributed archive notes, not a fresh fetch of each critic:

OutletScoreDateWhat they stressed · 1 aggregate source
KeenGamer902026-11-02Addictive, and long sessions get repetitive
SIFTER902026-10-30Nostalgia and a lo-fi mood
Checkpoint Gaming852026-11-04Cleaning feels great; physics sometimes misses; buy/sell numbers matter less than they look
Screen Hype752026-11-04Writing and instructions are thin; pure cleaning is the happy path
Gamer.no702026-11-02Peeling stickers and washing tools gets fiddly; ASMR lean
The Wand Report502026-10-30Clever machine, weak sense of payoff

That is 4 positive, 2 mixed, 0 negative on Metacritic’s own bins. The 50 and the 70 are part of the record. “Critics agree” would be a lie.

Two reviews outside that six

SmashPad scored 4 out of 5 on 5 November 2026 and called out bugs, no cloud saves, and shelf bonuses that are hard to read. LadiesGamers used their own ladder and landed on “I Like it a Lot,” also on 5 November. They noted no achievements and no trading cards, and that a C grade and an S grade hand out different sized decorations.

Steam’s 160 and 81 percent will move. I dated them. Metacritic’s user score was still empty when I looked, so I am not inventing one. Nobody published an official hour-count, so I am not writing “it takes twelve hours.”

Questions

Is 77 a good Metacritic score?

It is the number six critics produced, with a 50 in the set. Read the spread, not only the average.

Are Steam reviews in English only?

The 160 and 81 percent are the store’s overall count on 7 Nov 2026. I did not split them by language.

Did anyone hate the cleaning?

The low scores complain about payoff and fiddliness, not about the idea of cleaning itself. Screen Hype says people who only want to clean will be happiest.
