From the first parcel to a full shelf

Buy a parcel, open it by hand, and clean one game at a time. Watch four bars — dirt, stickers, ink and adhesive, scratches — and match the tool to the bar. Finish with the UV torch, then shelve the game for a bonus or sell it. End the day at the door so the next parcels and the market refresh.

A day, in order

  1. Pay for a parcel at the door. SmashPad saw at least three parcels a day. That is one reviewer’s count, so I am not turning it into a rule.
  2. Open the box: tape, lid, packing peanuts. A Steam community guide prices a peanut at 5 cents in the bin and 1 cent if you blow it out the window. One guide, so I am leaving it as that guide’s prices.
  3. Read the label before you scrub: platform, PAL or NTSC, year, and how dirty each bar is.
  4. Clean. Dirt wants the cotton tip. Stickers want heat, then tweezers. Ink and leftover glue want solvent. Scratches want polish. The UV torch only shows what you missed.
  5. Read the letter grade. S means every bar at 100 percent. A public result screen shows Dirt 78, Stickers 100, Ink 73, Scratches 85, and a D.
  6. Shelve it on a shelf node if you want the bonus, or sell it for that day’s market price.
  7. End the day. There is no “next level” key. The calendar moves, and new parcels show up.

The shop sells more parcels per day and more shelf slots. It does not sell tool levels. Vaagame and LadiesGamers describe tool strength as a shelf bonus. Into Indie Games has a “purchasing upgrades” section, and the upgrades in that section are the parcel count and the shelf slots, not a sharper toothbrush.

Keys, and which build they belong to

The launch store page says the game supports a controller and can be played with a mouse, with no timer. A June 2026 demo patch listed TAB to keep cleaning, Z to swap tools, arrow keys to move the selection, WASD to pan, Shift with W or S to zoom, and plus or minus to zoom. That list is the demo patch. I do not have a 1.0 card that repeats it, so the list below is identified as demo-era controls rather than a confirmed launch-version map.

Mistakes that waste a parcel

  • Opening three boxes and finishing none of them.
  • Polishing before the dust is gone, so the scratches stay hidden under grime.
  • Skipping the sponge when the cotton tip or the brush goes black.
  • Chasing the single percent and ignoring a bar that is still low. That is how a “99” becomes a D.

Questions

What are the seven tools?

Tweezers, cotton tip, toothbrush, heat gun, UV torch, solvent, and polish. The tools page has the matrix.

Is there a fail state?

The studio describes no timer and no fail. A bad grade still leaves you a cartridge you can sell or shelve.

Where do the 108 names live?

On the cartridge list, and only the eight titles a public screenshot or write-up actually names.
