How to get an S, and how to finish the last 1 percent
Vaagame reports that S means all four bars at 100 percent: dirt, stickers, ink and adhesive, and scratches. The letters between S and D are not published as numbers. A result screen on the Steam store shows 78, 100, 73, and 85, and the letter is D. If you are stuck at 99, read the four bars. The total is hiding the one that is short.

I will not draw a line at 90 or 80 because a guide “usually” does that. Vaagame reports the S rule; the Steam screenshot supplies only the D example. They do not support a full ladder. LadiesGamers adds that a C and an S hand out different sized room decorations. The exact ornament list is not public, so the quest table only has categories.
The last percent is a bar, not a secret
People stuck at 99 are usually watching the combined number. The grade reads four bars. Ink at a few percent, or a scratch on the rim that the UV torch has not crossed, holds the letter down while the headline percent looks finished. Rotate the shell. Check the disc underside if the object is a disc. The October demo patch increased how much CD scratches count, so a disc that looked “done” in an older clip can sit lower now.
Demo patch 6 added an autocomplete when every layer is at least 99 percent, and the accessibility menu can turn it off. That assist finishes a clean. It is not the S condition. If you want the letter S, the bars still need to read 100.
Order still matters. Polish on top of dust hides scratches. A dirty cotton tip paints grime back on. Those are in the main guide because they are how a careful clean still posts a D.
Questions
Does S change the sale price?
Guides tie the letter to the market quote and to decoration size. I do not have a published dollar bonus per letter, so I am not printing one.
Can I S-rank every one of the 108?
The rule is per object, not a collection achievement. Steam achievements were not in the launch build.
Is 99 percent autocomplete the same as S?
No. Autocomplete is an assist at 99 on every layer. S is 100 on every bar.
